Interview with Claudio Nardi from Nardi Architects

Claudio, can you tell us a bit about your studio and its approach to design?

Claudio Nardi Architects was born from my passion for architecture and the desire to create spaces that speak to people. We are particularly attracted to the architectural scale, but we also like to explore the territory of masterplans. Our goal has always been to merge functionality and beauty, creating places where people want to spend their time.

Are there any projects you are particularly proud of?

• La Ménagère in Florence: It's a concept store that reinvents the idea of commercial space, integrating dining, culture, and lifestyle in a single environment enriched by details and suggestions.
• MOCAK in Krakow: A project that fits into the historical context of the former Oscar Schindler factory, transforming it into a museum of contemporary art. Here, the challenge was to preserve the memory of the place while introducing modern and functional elements.

Greenery plays an important role in your projects. How do you integrate it into your work?

For me, greenery is not just an ornament but a central aspect of the project, rich in philosophical and ideological meanings. I'm inspired by examples like the Guinigi Tower in Lucca, where greenery becomes a symbol of life and an integral element of the architecture.

Is there a principle that guides your creative process?

"Multiplicity" is my keyword. I'm fascinated by the idea of uniting tradition and modernity, creating a space that is both unique and part of a broader dialogue. The influence of Carlo Scarpa in my educational journey taught me the importance of combining different elements harmoniously.
