On a lively and inspiring afternoon, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Andrei Perekhodtsev, the creative mind behind the Hydea s.p.a. design studio, for an informal but extremely enlightening chat. Together, we explored the depths and peculiarities of the world of design and architecture, discovering how the studio manages to transform ordinary spaces into extraordinary places.
Thank you, Giorgio, it's a pleasure to be here. Hydea s.p.a. is a true idea lab. We do not limit ourselves to a single sector; our work ranges from retail to healthcare, from housing to social housing, not forgetting residential and industrial. We also have a particular fondness for wine cellar design. In short, from the smallest commercial space to large educational structures, we put our heart into every project.
It's true, each project is unique. We believe there is no single magic formula, but it is the deep understanding of the specific needs of each client and context that guides us. The challenge is always to create spaces that reflect the identity of those who will live in them, working on them as if they were a tailored suit.
Absolutely, I have two in mind. The first is the Bella Vista pavilion in Florence, a charming place with a hanging garden open to the community, representing a green oasis in the city. The second is the restyling of a shopping center at the Serravalle Scrivia outlet, a project that we have been renewing annually for twenty years, always responding to new challenges and needs.
Exactly. In a rapidly changing world, especially with recent climate changes, it's essential to offer spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but that genuinely improve quality of life. The implementation of green areas, water features, and relaxation areas are concrete examples of how we try to respond to these needs.
For us, green is not just an embellishment; it's a vital element that significantly contributes to the livability of spaces. We believe it's essential that our clients recognize this value, not just for the aesthetic aspect but for the wellbeing it can offer.
I would say "participation". The close collaboration among our team members and the deep understanding of our clients' needs are crucial. It's only through an open dialogue that we can create spaces that truly meet their expectations.
Absolutely. It's an element that transforms not only the aesthetics but improves the lives of those who live and work in our spaces.
