MOSSwall® moss wall: how the panel is made
MOSSwall® is the system patented by VerdeProfilo® to create moss walls in interior spaces. The plant material, a natural stabilized lichen commonly known as stabilized moss, is applied at the factory to a pre-painted sheet steel panel 0.6 mm thick, which arrives on site ready to install. The wall is built by placing the panels side by side, horizontally or vertically.
The standard MW01 panel measures 60 × 40 cm, is 6 cm thick and weighs 2.4 kg. On the back it has M6 threaded bushings, which allow both direct wall fixing and mounting on a substructure. Panels are sold in boxes of four, equal to about one square meter of wall, with anchors and screws included.
To finish the wall when its size is not a multiple of the panel, MW02 is used: the panel has predefined lines along which it can be bent, so the required portion can be detached to fit the surface. For curved surfaces, sinuous shapes and columns there is the flexible mesh-backed version, MW05 Flexi, which is easy to cut.
Colors are organized in four families. Cool Tones: Midnight Green, Rainforest Green, Teal Green, Mist Grey and Frost White. Warm Tones: Bark Brown, Aloe Green, Seed Green, Matcha Green and Cloud White. Fusion, which combines Midnight Green, Frost White, Bark Brown and Seed Green. Seasonal Mixes Vibrant Field, compositions of two base colors and one color accent, such as Amethyst Liliac, Rust Red or Amaranth Purple. Shade and color variations are characteristic of a natural product.
The accessories shown on this page, such as Round, Boiserie, Strips and Applique, integrate into the same wall and are available in the same colors.
The MW01-02 technical sheet also lists the certified properties of the system: reaction to fire class B-s2, d0 according to EN 13501-1; an acoustic test report according to ISO 11654, with a weighted sound absorption coefficient αw of 0.35; a bacteriological test report confirming the absence of Salmonella and Listeria. According to the same sheet, the natural lichen prevents static electricity from building up on the surface, giving the panel antistatic properties.

Installation: wall-mounted, pressure-fit or freestanding
MOSSwall® can be installed in three ways, depending on the space and on how much work can be done on the masonry. Suitable substrates are concrete, dense natural stone, solid brick or solid lightweight concrete block.
Wall-mounted. Panels are fixed directly with the anchors supplied, or press-fitted onto a substructure of galvanized steel uprights 120 or 160 cm high: single at the ends, double in the middle to hold adjacent panels. With the uprights far fewer holes are needed, the wall stands about 2 cm off the masonry, and the holes on the side of the uprights let electrical conduits pass through.
Pressure-fit. Paired uprights, a base plinth and an adjustable foot put the wall under tension between floor and ceiling. The result is a double-sided wall with no holes, glue or masonry work, useful as a partition and in rented spaces. It is available in 120 × 290, 180 × 290 and 240 × 290 cm, reducible in 10 cm modules down to a height of 250 cm.
Freestanding. A 60 × 45 cm metal base supports double-sided uprights. The wall is available in 120 × 120, 180 × 120 and 180 × 160 cm. Both the pressure-fit and the freestanding versions can also be built with MW07 acoustic panels. Stabilized moss for interiors: conditions of use
The stabilized moss used in MOSSwall® is a natural lichen treated to keep its appearance and softness over time. It does not grow, does not need pruning and does not need water: it must not be sprayed or wetted, because water can damage it. Ambient humidity is enough, as long as relative humidity stays between 40 and 50%; if the moss loses its softness, bringing humidity back to the correct values is all it takes.
The wall must not be exposed to direct sunlight and can also be placed in rooms without natural light. MOSSwall® is an indoor-only product and must not be crushed or walked on; any tufts that come loose can be reattached with clear neutral silicone.

What warranty does a MOSSwall® wall have?
MOSSwall® has a 5-year warranty from the date of purchase, stated in the MW01-02 technical sheet. The same sheet lists the product's conditions of use: indoor installation only, relative humidity between 40 and 50%, no exposure to direct sunlight and no contact with water.
